Cushions, Pillows ....... and a little trip down memory lane ......

|

Well Hellooo There .......

I hope all is good with you and yours - and that you are enjoying a little spring in your step !!

This week, we are all about cushions - or "pillows" as our American cousins call them ..... it's funny how that triggered great memories for me ......

A few years ago, Ashley and I were commissioned by The BBC to shoot some fab homes in the States ..... what a working trip that was - we started with this one in Mystic, Connecticut .......

What a lovely couple they were - and what a setting !!!! .......

Onwards to Cape Cod and then up to Boston where we shot this amazing penthouse ........

Apparently it recently appeared in a Bruce Willis movie .....

Then further onwards we continued to Vermont where we shot three beautiful homes - including one for a Christmas issue .... gosh but it's hard work setting up a Christmas shoot off season ..... I felt sorry for the owners having to wear woolly sweaters in hot humid weather but they were totally up for it and we had a lot of fun ...... oh my but I do adore those old reclaimed beams !!!

This home, overlooking The Green Valley in Stowe was pretty "wow" ... look at that amazing vaulted ceiling !!!!!

And then we finished off with this one - another beauty - it was in the Ivy League town of Hanover in New Hampshire .......

I'm sure you are wondering what all of that has to do with linen cushions ????? But it was when working there with a lovely assistant called Bob (from Boston), that we had endless confusion about "pillows" and "cushions" ......

To us, pillows are what one puts under one's head to sleep - but to Americans, a pillow is what we call a "cushion" ..... fluffy things to make our sofas and beds look nice :)

In the States, "cushions" are what you sit on - what we call "seat cushions". I kept meaning to ask Bob what do Americans call the things we call pillows ??? Hmmmmm !!!!!!!!

Anyway let's talk about our new branded Nat Cal linen "cushions" .... ie fluffy things to make our rooms look nice :)

Made from lovely soft pre-washed linen, the smaller ones come in four colours ....

And the larger ones come in two colours.

The "Mocha" is a gorgeous colour and the "French Navy" is so chic but in a casual way.

I must admit I do love a casually arranged set of plain linen cushions - done well, it should be comfortable and timeless - "perfectly plain" needn't be bland  ....

If you wander over to our shop, you can read all about them !!

Well folks that's all from me until next week ........

Take Care
