How to mix cool neutrals with warm neutrals .......

| Posted in coastal, greys, neutrals, throws |

Hello There

First off - regular readers will perhaps have noticed that we constantly change our home page to keep it fresh and interesting .....

I particularly love the lead shot on our present home page ......

The old jetty is just a couple of miles away from our home - it's outside one of our favourite watering holes - The Dirty Duck Ale House. As well as serving a great glass of Guinness, they do wonderful food - my favourite dish there is crab cakes in lobster sauce topped with a poached egg ...... deeeelish !!

Anyway - I don't deny, the majority of emails we receive are all about choosing shades of grey and asking how to style a room using predominantly grey tones - I smiled at a comment from one of our customers .... "grey is the new Magnolia" :)

But I do appreciate that for some people, a totally grey scheme might be a step too far ..... I do tend to include little hints of colour with carefully chosen flowers. For example, yellows ....

Or a little splash of lilac works beautifully with greys ....

But the other option - as the title of this post suggests - is actually to mix warm linen tones with greys - and yes, that really does work !!

We have just introduced another of our lovely Irish throws - and I think the beautiful tones of this throw show how warm and cool neutrals work well together.

Here are a few more items (all available in our shop) which I think would work particularly well with a mixture of greys, charcoals and linen tones ...

This cushion shows how patchwork can add a "contemporary country" vibe  .....

This French script one has been one of our most popular cushions ..... we have just sold our last one of these - but I shall be trying to source more .....

As you might have picked up, we tend to go for candlestick lamps with very simple lines .....

Our framed prints have proved very popular - we dispatched two of them a short time ago to St Paul de Vence in Provence :)

As I keep saying -  there are no rights and wrongs when it comes to decor ..... find a style that feels right for you - and have fun creating a room that is comfortable, practical, calm and easy to live with :)

All that talk of crab cakes has made me hungry - when 'Himself' gets home, I think I might suggest a little foray to the Dirty Duck - all in the interests of researching design inspiration from our wonderful coastline of course :)

Take Care
