Pre-washed Linen ..... Marmite Perhaps ???

|

Hi Everyone

I hope you are all easing your way nicely into 2016 !!

Now then - whilst we were shooting a lovely coastal cottage last week, an interesting conversation emerged about white bedding !!

Before I go much further, I'm afraid there are no beautiful images by either Ashley or Stuart this time - just a few quick snaps taken with my Ipad.

Right - the owner of the cottage - a lovely and very talented girl ..... Jillian Espie from Alan Espie Interiors - had clearly spent forever ironing the white bedding for the main shot.

So we got chatting about what a dreaded task that is ..... I still stick with my previous advice about placing a white bedspread on top of the duvet ..... I wrote a blog on this ages ago  ..... there is a link at the end of this blog.

But you know how it is ladies - we all like a little change from time to time !!!

Soooo - when I was approached by a beautiful Scandi Company called Kardelene about the possibility of us stocking their product ...... pre-washed European Linen - well how could I refuse !!!

I ordered a few bits and pieces to try out myself ..... and have just got around to making up the bed with it .....

Well ........ I absolutely LOVE it :)

I literally just took it out of the packaging and put it straight onto the bed - there are a couple of fold creases but not that obvious .....

I would say if you took it straight out of the tumble drier, it would look "perfectly crumpled" :)

I have always been a fan of continental square pillows and chose a mixture of pure white ones; a gorgeous tone midway between oatmeal and grey and thirdly, a natural colour almost akin to grainsack in tone.  (The 'script' pillow is one I've had for years).

So why the title of the blog I hear you ask ??? Well - going back to last week's shoot, I happened to mention to Jillian that I was looking forward to experimenting with my new pre-washed linen bedding .... when out of the blue, Ashley - who incidentally doesn't tend to express many views about "home style"  - looked up from behind the camera and announced .... "is that the crinkly stuff you sometimes use for table cloths - cos if so, I don't think I like it much" !!!!

Oooweee - strong words from the quiet man who is usually 100% focused (literally) on tekky stuff and lighting :)

Well, I'm loving it and I think their strap-line is spot on .....

"A Little Wrinkle is a Good Thing" ........

I wish cosmetic companies would advocate the same sentiment - ahem !!!!

The next test will of course be - what is it like to sleep in ....... I shall let you know - but it certainly feels lovely ......

Judging from the many emails I receive, I get the impression you ladies enjoy reading about the  little "me time treats" I sometimes witter on about ......

Soooo - what with that bed looking sooooo comfy right now, I think I will have a lovely long soak in the bath tonight - and finish off with my all time favourite body lotion .....

I don't use it all the time - it's kind of my good stuff !!

Oh - and having resisted a TV in the bedroom for years, I recently succumbed ...... I don't mind watching the occasional golf or rugby on the box - but when it started to escalate to tedious levels, by mutual consent, Himself and I decided to put a TV in the bedroom - thankfully it's tucked away discreetly behind the door !!!  And do you know what - I am really loving getting comfy of an evening and catching up on movies and shows I missed ...... I have just started this Box Set and am so enjoying it ....

David Jacobi is such a fine actor - and he is so sweet in this ........ you "could take him home and put him on your mantelpiece" - a fave saying by a very good friend of mine :)

Ugg Boots

And finally finally, after years of loyal service, my ancient Uggs became so "baldy" inside, a new pair was called for. Now I'm no fashionista - but I think that Uggs possibly picked up the name of being a bit Chavvy for a while  - maybe it's when they are worn with shiny track suits or something ??? Anyways, I care not .....

I love them with cosy cable knit sweaters and skinny jeans - and oh my, putting my feet into these lovely soft new ones is just heaven !!!

Right folks, that's all from me for now ......

Take Care

Marie x
